KNOW BEFORE YOU GO
This experience requires a minimum of 3 people. If it’s cancelled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date/experience or a full refund.
Note also that we are depending on the weather conditions and we might have to modify or even cancel last minute if the weather is dangerous for us to go!
We do mix groups, we close our bookings one week before departure and then send you your secured online payment link with the amount to pay according to the total number of participants! See the price list above!
WHAT TO BRING LIST
Winter boots. Not hiking boots but proper extreme cold weather boots. If you’re coming from a not-so-cold country, you might want to buy in Sweden or online. Just ask, and we will help you. It is also possible to rent from us, just let us know.
Wool socks
Cut wind jacket
Headlamp with extra batteries
Warm layers of clothes and a big outer shell jacket/parka
Change of clothes but one or two will do fine.
Ski trousers
Underlayer
Your personal medication if needed.
A book, a card game, or else for the evening by the fire.
Please Note
Aim at having many layers on you, it is way better than having a single big jacket. So underlayer, a fleece then a wool sweater, finishing with a cut wind jacket would be ideal. Also having a proper winter jacket is important for standstills, especially when laying in the snow while admiring the northern lights.
You can come earlier and/or leave later to enjoy the place. It is also a ski station for you to enjoy some more.
The "untouched" nature adventure over the snow
Have you ever been on a ski trip? Maybe, probably, hopefully!
But have you ever been on a ski touring trip where you are in the pure wilderness, alone with nature, with reindeer and moose as sole neighbours, under the northern lights, and accompanied by an amazing guide who loves their job?....
Not sure!
This tour is tailored for those of you who want to get away from the crowded ski stations and want to explore forests and hills by skiing the way Nordic people do! From woody valleys to bare hilltops, you'll be in nature surrounded by forest, wildlife, silence and so much snow. You'll learn to make a fire in the snow and get tips on how not to freeze, cook delicious food, and take the time to lay in the snow, when dark, and admire the show that offers the northern lights!
In this more comfortable option, we propose you discover ski touring during the day and enjoy the comfort of a warm log cabin at night. On this trip, we will be able to prepare nice food as we will bring fresh food to cook over the open fire in nature whenever it is possible, and also in the cabin when warming up is needed.
Please send us a request, we would love to help you out in any way we can!
The best way to explore this region off-piste
We can go where the ski lifts can't, we can go where the masses can't, and we get the benefit of escaping the crowds as well as making fresh tracks!
Day 1
We will meet at Grövelsjön bus station in the afternoon, depending on your different transportation schedule from Stockholm. You can also decide to come the day or some days before and enjoy the town and the surrounding. You will take a train from Stockholm to Mora and then a bus from Mora to Grövelsjön, the ride is about 3.5 hours. Plenty of time to look through the window at the magnificient mountainous landscape starting to take shape, you’ll notice how the amount of snow is beginning to pile up gradualy as you approach Grövelsjön. You can of course decide to go on your own by car, let us know.
Once at Grövelsjön bus station we will directly fetch our gear and make sure everything fits you properly, time then to reach our destination, a cabin, lost somewhere under the snow, in Norden Sweden.
Time to relax, eat good food, and rest before the real deal begins!
You’ll be sleeping in a rustic, small, and cozy cabin situated in the forest. Warmth, power, and warm water… Well, a log cabin!
Day 2
After breakfast, we'll pack our sled with firewood, fresh food, cooking equipment, and reindeer skin to sit on, and off we go! Our first goal is to reach the top of Salsfjället southern top! A first and nice hilltop that gives us a beautiful view over the landscape, we will be in for the next coming days. The way down in Egåhogna valley will give us this impression of freedom, and, already, this sensation of being one with nature that we all want to feel! Already a good morning, full of pictures and adrenaline.
Time for food. Your guide will get busy preparing the fire in the snow and cooking a good meal. Keep warm by helping out, moving is the best way to warm up and it’s so much fun to learn new stuff. Then back to the cabin in the afternoon.
In the evening time for warm food, good talks, and deep sleep!
Day 3
After breakfast, we'll continue towards Jakobshöjden where we'll reach Huskläppen. You'll notice how majestic the whole region is! How taller the mountains are, how thick the snow layer is! So appealing to ski on this huge creamy cake looking like!
After lunch and after crossing Elgåhogna and up and down Rundhögda, We will be back for the night! With food and rest as the plan!
Day 4
Time to wake up, it’s our last full day and we have plenty to enjoy today.
Early wake-up, breakfast, and on the skis again! This big hill you saw yesterday while watching the northern lights until late at night is of course our next goal! You start to feel your legs a little bit and you're probably a bit tired but it doesn't matter so much so the landscape is breathtaking! Enjoy this last day, it is something magical you're living now!
In the afternoon, we'll come back and start packing gear and luggage. Your guide will leave you alone for a short while and take the van, probably all frozen and full of snow, to bring back the rental gear and be ready to leave early the following day. You’ve been doing a lot these 5 days, it was a lot of impressions all the time, you’re surely tired and hopefully proud of yourself and you should. You deserve a good dinner and a good night's sleep after that unforgettable experience with us in the wilderness of Sweden’s mountains!
Day 5
Time to thank nature and say goodbye to the mountains.
Breakfast, pack our bags and at the bus stop waiting the bus for your way back to Mora to catch your train to Stockholm!
