YOUR QUESTIONS, OUR ANSWERS

Everything You Need to Know!

GENERAL

  • Yes, you can :)

  • All our experience requires a minimum number of travellers (2 or 3). You can contact us to book the already running experiences. And if your booking is cancelled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date for the same tour (if there are any) or a different experience on the same day (if there are any), or a full refund!

  • We're following closely the government regulations regarding the fire ban, we might have to opt for a cold lunch if fire bans are in place. Nature goes first before fun! We won't cancel your tour because of a fire ban unless you have a survival course with us!

You can also follow the fire ban news from the link below

    https://www.krisinformation.se/en/hazards-and-risks/gras--och-skogsbrand/fire-bans

  • Yes, you can park your car in front of the street of our office (meeting point) with a parking fee. Please also check the below link for details.

BEFORE THE BOOKING

  • No, you should have your personal travel insurance that you fix from home.

  • We only rent out camping gear (tent, sleeping bag, mat) and backpacks to our guests that join our multiday tours.

We do not rent out any clothing or shoes. We always send you an information email, when you book your experience, on what you need to bring for the experience you will be joining!

  • Yes, we have many diet options and we give importance to your dietary restrictions and allergies. We ask questions about your condition while you book your experience with us. Please answer the questions during your booking process, we will be happy to arrange the best for you!

AFTER THE BOOKING

  • Meeting at Ystadsvägen 18. Metro station Hammarbyhöjden, on the green line, number 17, towards Skarpnäck.

You can check our location on Google Maps.

How to get there, coming from the city:

When you step off the metro take a left, then exit the metro station. You arrive at Malmövägen, take the right and follow the sharp 90° turn going left then continue walking for about 5 minutes. On the way, you will pass the café called ''Bonne Femme''. The house on the corner of Ystadsvägen is where you'll meet your guide.

  • You should always think about the weather you are going to find up here.

Hikes and the like: Hiking shoes, hiking pants.

Kayak trips: A full change of clothing in case you fall in the water, we have dry bags for you.

Survival course: A bit more to think about here but you’ll always get a list of what to bring upon booking.

    MTB: Bike shoes, sports clothing.

    No high heels, please :)

  • Please be aware of the importance of being on time so that everybody can enjoy a full day of activity! If you are late on your activity day, we wait for a few minutes before leaving and then we have to leave because we need to respect the other participants that are joining the experience.

WILDLIFE SAFARI

  • Animals in the wilderness are hardly predictable. We do everything we can and use our expertise to spot them but we can not guarantee to see all the animals as we don’t feed or attract them in any way!

  • We meet at our office and drive to the forest for about 20 minutes. We hike for about 1.5 hours and the rest of the time we spot animals from our van while chasing the wildlife there. The duration of the Wildlife Safari experience is 4 hours in total.

  • It is possible to see roe-deer; deer; fallow-deer; hare; wild bore; fox; sea eagle; beaver; badger and of course the moose or elk that is the most wanted. We have a good chance to see them but it is unpredictable as this is wilderness and not a zoo.

Animals in the wilderness are hardly predictable. We do everything we can and use our expertise to spot them but we can not guarantee to see all the animals as we don’t feed or attract them in any way!

SURVIVAL

  • We are always trying to combine different groups and open the courses to as many people as we can.

We try to set new dates regularly. If we don’t have the course on your wished dates then we can add you to our re-contact list and let you know when we have new dates. Please email us at info@truenaturesweden.com to check the dates for the course you want to join!

  • All our courses are designed for beginners, even the ones that think they know usually don't, so to make sure that everyone is getting all the needed information and skills, our course instructor always starts from the beginning. And you can join every course we have (2 days, 4 days, 6 days, Winter Survival, 2 weeks etc.) since we always start from the beginning.

  • The difference between 2 days and 4 days is we go deeper in knowledge in 4 days courses. 2 days is an overview, 4 days course starts going a little bit deeper, and 6 days course totally goes deeper in knowledge. Although in 2 weeks you are getting the experience of being alone in nature. In general, the chapters are the same but we can't cover every detail because of the time.

  • There's a misconception about survival that says one should suffer in nature. Where indeed some situations imply these examples, learning about survival is quite the opposite. The idea is basically to learn how to feel comfortable in nature. Nature has it all, we just need to use it.

So we are here to learn and not to suffer, it takes many many days to learn all the plants and such, so it'd be wrong for us to expect someone to feed themselves using nature only. So we bring food with us during our courses and we cook fresh and nice food over the fire.

We learn how to make a shelter but we still have the option of a tent. Again the idea is to be comfortable in nature and get a good experience of it.

There's though something we cannot foresee is the weather. If it's raining all day it'll add a challenge for sure.

ICE SKATING

  • We do ice skating tours where the ice is best to skate on, we check all possible locations' ice conditions, it all depends on snowfall, temperature and wind measures. Sometimes it is the same place for a few days and then it changes to another. We usually know if we run the Ice Skating tour a few days prior to the tour date.

KAYAKING

  • We always adjust the pace to the group's abilities. So even if you have never tried kayaking before, you can join us. We give a security briefing and practical information before we go for kayaking and we are sure you will enjoy your day!

  • Single kayaks can be used by beginners as it only takes a few minutes to learn the basics of paddling!

Double kayaks are perfect for you that want to enjoy paddling with your partner in a stable kayak!

  • The kayaking tour requires going in and out of the kayak and also some short walks in between. If your ankle, leg etc has been injured, we, True Nature Sweden, can not take any responsibility if anything more serious happens during the tour that we can not foresee. Since we will be out there in the sea and the closest doctor will be far away from us! If it is nothing so severe then you can of course join us with knowing the facts that have been mentioned above!

  • Yes, we know that this part of the Globe is a little colder than what you might be used to back home. This does not mean that we never get cold, either.

In Scandinavia, we have a saying: "There is no bad weather, only bad clothing!”. This is the key to keeping ourselves warm.

Are you cold? Put an extra layer

Are you still? Put another one

And choose the right type of material for the right condition.

This is applicable almost in all seasons here in Sweden, and we try to remind our visitors on all of our tours.

Please notice that even if it is summer time it might still be cold on the coastline if we have windy weather. That is why you must have warm clothes with you.

For example, water/windproof jackets, and thick sweaters are recommended. Please bring 2 sets of clothes in case you get wet in some way. We have dry bags to store your stuff during the tour.

  • Our guides make the kayak arrangements on-site, so while you can let the guide know you'd like a double kayak, we can't guarantee one. Decisions are made based on weather conditions and the group's pace. However, children under 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult in a double kayak. We appreciate your understanding!

HIKING

  • Regarding footwear, we recommend wearing proper hiking shoes with good grip and ankle support to ensure your safety and comfort. However, if you don't have hiking shoes, walking shoes with good grip will be okay as well.

  • The hike is considered moderate, and it will take approximately 4 hours to complete, covering a distance of around 10 kilometres. We will take breaks as needed and adjust the pace to the group's abilities.

  • In terms of clothing, we suggest dressing in layers as the weather can change. Bring a light jacket or fleece to keep you warm. It's also a good idea to bring a rain jacket in case of precipitation. We also recommend bringing a small backpack to carry any necessary items such as water, and sunscreen.

 MOUNTAIN BIKING

  • We have Serious Alloy Light and Cube Attention SL 27,5'' and 29'', both great quality hardtails with front suspension.

  • We have a large MTB pedal, Menace sixpack.

  • 120 mm (no big jump with that:)

CANCELLATION

  • In the unlikely event we would have to cancel, you will receive the opportunity to:

    Change your booking date

Change activity and you will get refunded or pay for the price difference if any.

You can cancel and get a full refund.

Please visit our Terms & Conditions and Cancellation Policy pages for more information!

BAD WEATHER

  • Some of our experiences like kayaking, and ice skating depend on secure weather conditions, so they can be cancelled a few days prior to your tour date. In this case, we offer you 3 options;

-Propose you another date with the same activity (if possible)

-Propose you another activity running same day (if possible)

    -Or refund you 100%

  • Yes, we know that this part of the Globe is a little colder than what you might be used to back home. This does not mean that we never get cold, either.

And choose the right type of material for the right condition.

This is applicable almost in all seasons here in Sweden, and we try to remind our visitors on all of our tours.

For example, water/windproof jackets, thick sweaters or wool sweaters, wool socks, and base layers are recommended. Please bring 2 sets of clothes in case you get wet in some way.

  • Rain isn't bad weather. We only cancel when the wind is too strong to go kayaking or sometimes camping in the forest during storms. Still, otherwise, none of our tours is susceptible to cancellation for rain or other weather conditions that aren't dangerous.
