Do's and Don'ts in Swedish Nature

It’s your first time in Sweden…

You’ve decided to combine a few days in the capital with one of the outdoor activities in the forest. You’ve heard great things about the natural scenery and are excited to start exploring some of Europe’s last wilderness areas. But what is really out there? Is there anything you should think of before heading out into Swedish nature?

Here are some do’s and don'ts in Swedish Nature you should consider before getting in;

  • Don’t approach bears (and never ever a cub).

  • Don’t eat foodstuffs you are unsure about.

  • Drink water as long as it is flowing.

  • Wear cotton-free layered clothing.

  • Watch out for ticks, wasps and red marks after a bite.

  • Let people know your itinerary during backpacking hikes.

  • Use appropriate equipment that you are familiar with.

  • Bring a map and compass or at least a GPS.

  • Wear bright clothing during the hunting season.

  • Don’t go alone.
